Friends of Kirkwood Community Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to share kindness in the community and help rebuild hope for local families by fulfilling unserved needs in our community. Through coordinated volunteer efforts and donations, we will strive to meet and fulfill these needs. We feel every everyone should have opportunities to enjoy our community and feel that they are an important part of our town, no matter what their age, ethnicity, abilities or financial status.

Kirkwood Inspiration Playground
Kirkwood Inspiration Playground is an all-inclusive handicap accessible playground. This project will fulfill an unmet need in our community for inclusive play space for children and adults of all abilities. An all-inclusive playground is one designed to provide a fun, safe, and all-inclusive play space where children of all abilities can grow and learn through physical, emotional, sensory, and social experiences.
Kirkwood Inspiration Playground will be a 112' x 47' area, located in Kirkwood Veterans River Park, with access to both ground level and elevated play spaces and activities. It will include two (2) therapeutic swings, a generation swing, two (2) regular swings, an inclusive whirl, a play structure with an arc glider, slides and sensory elements. Various elements throughout the playground will be wheelchair accessible.
